Hurricane Noel Passes By

The sun is back out after our visit from Hurricane/Nor'easter Noel. The ocean on the east facing beaches remains a white watery mess, and Rt 12 to the southern OBX was closed to traffic today along Pea Island until "mid afternoon." Therefore, I missed any follow-up action today. Early reports noted a session at the Cape Point/Cove, but no details as of yet.

Yesterday there were two ocean sessions. One at Hatteras Turnout, and the second at the north end of Ocracoke. I was at the Turnout, and conditions there were large hollow barrels and nuclear near offshore winds. The morning hours were reported best for windsurfing, and the kite crew had it in the afternoon as the winds and inside current increased.
During the morning, Keith, Caleb, Jim, Andy, Stuart, Jon (from Canada), and a few others enjoyed building conditions. I arrived around noon, shot video for a while, rigged 3.7m and made a survival run as wind, wave, and current increased. The sketchest part was the outside wind as I was extremely overpowered on the 3.7m. By 2:00pm, the kite crew was rocking it with hyper speed wave face runs along the large walled sections. Tommy had the ride of the day with a full tube ride on an 8 ft wave! Dimitri and GS were also ripping on 4+m kites!

On Ocracoke, the Ride crew reported awesome conditions! EC forwarded a sample teaser video last night, and the conditions looked quite fun! Will wait for the full report once it comes in.
