Snow Today on the OBX!!

This morning we awoke to heavy snowfall on the Outer Banks, at least north of Oregon Inlet. Andy reported sailing in the ocean this morning just north of Avon, but no snowfall down there. In Nags Head, it would have been small wave hits in the snow?! I remained dry though, since the 100 Rule was likely not close to being met.

Nice that the top is back on the 4runner. Already looking forward to June 2009!

Our deck palm is definitely not happy!

Bill,
Your NPS beach driving fee pole is like asking, "Have you stopped beating your wife?" If I say I'm willing to pay, fee advocates will say, "see, the public is willing to pay!". If I say no, the fee advocates will say, "good, fees will support our actual agenda of eliminating human activity at the Hatteras beaches."

How about another selection, "Hey government! Back off!"

I don't think our founding fathers envisioned regulating every aspect of human activity. Most people that can afford to get a 4-wheeler to the beach are paying more than their fare share of taxes already.

I could go on but I really logged on to see if it was too cold to expect my kids to sail at the hole with regular leaky wetsuits over thanksgiving.. Looks like it's pretty frigid down there.

Hey Ken,

Great point! I added your suggested option to the list of choices.

Yea, I was contacted by an analyst working on the issue based upon a set of NPS proposals being offered for the ORV issue here on the OBX. I have not responded yet to the request for feedback, but added the poll noting permitting fees.

Regarding Thanksgiving weekend, it looks a little light so far, though tomorrow is forecast to blast! Air temps should be back to "moderate" levels, though we definitely jumped from Summer straight into Winter here!
