May Wrap Up
May began with a bang during the first half of the month, but left us with not too much wind over the last few weeks. The big wind event occurred during the second week when we experienced a nor-easter-type storm which spun off the coast to our south. It produced winds which only a 3.0m or smaller could handle. Mid month, we enjoyed some fun SW days including a 4.7m session on May 16 when I landed my first forward loops! Since then however, it has been quite calm. Memorial Day weekend brought perfect kiteboarding breezes and big sail windsurfing. I was teased onto the water once for an ocean slog session on my 5.3m at Salvo; however, I did not even count that ride on the calendar.
June has arrived which is one of my favorite windsurfing months. Hurricane season begins and hopefully we will get some swell and wind to boot! The forecast is calling for a robust season. Lets hope any storms remain/spin offshore and kick up the swell for some fun surfing and windsurfing!
