Ocrafolk Festival 2008

Kinga, Lauren, and MaryJohnThis past weekend, Ocracoke Island hosted the annual Ocrafolk Festival. Lauren and I have been attending the event every year since 2003, and enjoy the music, art, and small seaside village feel that is Ocracoke. Plus, its an awesome weekend getaway for us, even living here on the OBX! This year was different though since Lauren actually participated as a vendor representing the College of the Albemarle Fine Arts Program. Along with her fellow artists Kinga, and MaryJohn, the three showcased unique metal jewelry pieces under the tent at their booth.

Over the past years, the weather had always included the threat of rain, and often the music was moved inside; however, this year we had bright sunshine both Saturday and Sunday. The only downside was the oppressive heat! Air temps hovered near 100 degrees and with minimal wind, it was quite sauna-like running the booth all day.

I did not bring my windsurfing or surfing gear on the trip, since the wind forecast was light for the weekend. However, according to Andy's blog, the SUP/surf crew scored in Avon on Saturday!
