September Wrap, and On to October in Hatteras
September 2008 was an awesome month for windsurfing, and in my opinion, the best month of the year so far. We were welcomed with the swell from TS Hanna over Labor Day weekend. There was not much wind, however, the surf was phenomenal on the southern beaches from the Spit/Cove down to Ocracoke. We enjoyed may long fun rides, including some light wind action on the windsurfing wave gear! As TS Hanna approached the OBX, wind and waves increased, offering world class wavesailing at the Cove and Lifeguard Beach during the weekend following Labor Day.
Following TS Hanna, we enjoyed Hatteras Wave Fest during the second half of the month. NE winds filled in during the festival and offered 10 straight days of 5.0m and down wind! Along with the strong wind, we had fun surf on the southern beaches! Perfect conditions for the FreeForm sessions during the festival! I found this recent forum post interesting on iWindsurf given the timing since the festival! Definitely should have come down for the event!
See near complete coverage of September on George's Live2Sail blog for great photo and commentary during his visits and experience of the Hatteras action last month!
We are now on to October, and look forward to the days ahead. September will be hard to beat, but who knows...its Fall in Hatteras!
PS: Party at Avon Sailhouse this coming weekend!
