Cycles Continue But Timing Bad

We continue in the up and down cycle of weather patterns here on the OBX. A few days of 70 degree air followed by chilly 40s followed by a rebound into the mid 60s. Ocean water temps have remained consistent ranging from mid-50s to mid-60s depending upon location on the islands. Normally these temperature swings would bring strong winds, but timing has been bad for the favored SW flavor. Most times SW ramped up, it has been during the evening hours. Therefore, nothing sailable. Some strong N wind days have been sailed in Avon, but reports are few.

All in all, winter windsurfing is a real crap shoot here on the OBX. Factors including air temps, water temps, and hours of daylight, plus swell conditions (for wavesailing), can make it difficult to get an enjoyable session this time of year. If the timing is not right, the gear remains dry.

I cannot wait until May/June!
