Some Waves From H Dean

Sunday, I sailed in Nags Head at the peak just south of Loggerhead Street. It was great to be in town wavesailing since it rarely happens. Winds were out of the south at around 25 mph and the swell was breaking far enough outside to get some fun rides on the solid chest to head high set waves. The ocean front buildings blocked most of the inside wind, but I was powered on the set waves breaking outside.
On Monday, the swell from Dean peaked on the OBX and all the popular surf spots were packed. I headed down to Salvo around 5:30pm since Caleb reported sizable surf and sand blowing on the beach. Passing though S-Turns, the side of the road was packed with cars, so I figured there must be some waves. Sure enough, the break at Salvo was firing with perfect wind for a 5.3m and 88ltr board. Caleb and I were the only ones to catch it.

All in all though, not too bad over the past three days. Monday definitely was the best day of side off wave sailing since TS Barry threw some surf to the OBX back in June. For August, we definitely enjoyed it!
