Go Vote!... Then Go Windsurfing?!

Today is the big day in US politics. I shy away from the debate here on the blog and focus on wave and wind condition rather than political debates. However, get out to your local polling place and cast your vote for this important election!

Then, if here on the OBX, go windsurfing! It is blowing ENE in the upper 20s, 30s right now!

Perhaps it's ignorant to say, but I'd think you don't get long lines of voters on the Outer Banks. I hope they were relatively long!

Took me 1h 15m at a highly organized, fully staffed voting center that had 2x the usual number of machines and staff. Normally the wait is 3-5 minutes.

Yea, no lines here on the OBX, at least in Nags Head.

Seeing the Dare County election results, Hatteras Village only had about 68 voters given over 500 registered residents! I guess the tropical storm-like weather down there may have kept people from voting?! Other southern Outer Banks villages also appeared to have low turnout, except Buxton.

In the end, Dare County did go for McCain/Palin and the Republican ticket.

Correction, after all the vote counts are in, we actually had excellent voter turnout across Dare county.

When I originally saw the numbers, they were definitely low and before all the reported counts were in. After reviewing today's numbers, I was happy to see such high turn out! Great job Dare County voters!
