Hatteras Wave Fest 2008 - Wave Challenge Begins Tomorrow!

UPDATE: 10/12/2008
We had a contest! The Beast of the East Wave FaceOff was held just west of Hatteras Village on the beach near the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum. We had 20 mph wind, chest high surf, and 5 participants. The action is well documented in over 500 photos, thanks to our event photographer Dale Bendula! You will be the judge for this event as an online presentation will be prepared with polling to choose the top rider. Stay tuned here for the presentation coming soon!

UPDATE: 10/11/2008 5:00pm EST
The southern Outer Banks today was awash in rain and no wind. No contest due to poor wind and rainy conditions, though hopefully tomorrow's forecast remains ripe for strong NE wind?! The good news is that there is a decent ESE swell on the south side.
There was 25+ mph wind on the OBX; however, it remained around Oregon Inlet and was straight onshore! Bummer!

Hatteras Wave Fest 2008 Wave Challenge begins tomorrow. We have two solid NE wind forecasts both Saturday and Sunday!

The event schedule is as follows:
Day One: Saturday, Oct 11, 10:00am - 12:00pm.
Day Two: Sunday, Oct 12, 2:00pm - 4:00pm

Remain tuned to the OBX Beach Life Forum for the latest info including final location announcements. The venue will take place along the southern beaches of the Outer Banks at spots ranging from Lighthouse Beach to Hatteras Inlet (see sites along the southern facing section of the OBX). Site announcements will be made at least one hour before the start of heats on either the forum or by calling the event Hotline!

We are starting early tomorrow, so if you are participating, get a good night's sleep!

PS: Robby Naish is in town this weekend as well!

Stay tuned for the action wrap up following the event!
