Hatteras Wave Fest 2008, What an Event!!

Hatteras Wave Fest 2008 is underway, and we are halfway through the festival! I am beat after 5+ straight days of wavesailing from Nags Head to Ocracoke! Our first Official FreeForm session at East Point on Thursday was the start with visiting participants, and we have been in the Atlantic every day since! Its been an awesome experience for those who have participated in the FreeForm sessions served up at some of Hatteras best wavesailing locales! Last night Andy McKinney and Sailworld hosted the Hatteras Wave Fest Wave Clinic! We had lots of participation and Andy did an excellent job highlighting the concepts of wavesailing along with some of the attending local wave pros. Everyone had an excellent time and left the event psyched to hit the surf, especially to test out the "schlog lesson" today!

It's really cool what y'all are doing there to grow the wavesailing community. Good karma (and good sessions) should be coming your way.

Bill, this is event is really taking my (and Kewn's) wave sailing to another level. you guys always know where to sail so that the conditions are the best for learning the fundamentals, non threatening conditions, and almost as easy as sailing the sound. Andy from Sailworld is always patient with the instruction.
For example, yesterday evening, we were wave sailing with Andy and Keith, southside again. There was a nice wave behind me. They where in front of me heading out. They started pointing to let me know where i should be to catch it at the best spot. Then they yelled "pump the sail", and i caught the wave and had the best ride. They where hooting n hollering! So was I!!!!
So awesome to be able to sail with such extraordinary people, and get that sort of instruction up close and personal. I'm deeply grateful.

Still another week left, and the wind is gonna crank the whole time!! If anyone reading this has any desire to learn to wavesail, I HIGHLY recommend you register and come down. You'll be glad you did.

Yep, that is what Hatteras Wave Fest is all about, and it is great that here on the Outer Banks, NC we have awesome conditions and local wave sailors who go the extra mile to lend their experience, promoting the discipline, the sport, and the karma!

Hats off to not only the success of participants, but also the local wave crew for showcasing the fun experience of wavesailing! Great job!

Yeah, double everything said above - Wavefest has been awesome so far and I'm sure will be great for the rest of the week. Bill, Andy and co., thank you for your effort putting this event together. The weekend wave sailing was humbling and fun and Saturday's Wave Clinic was very informative. Can't wait for my return trip to put the knowledge into action, I'll ring you up when I come down. And don't hesitate to give me a ring if you're in the MD bay area - we get decent wind here too in the fall!

All the best,
