Hatteras Wave Fest 2008, The "Sub-Tropical Storm" Aftermath

Well, it appears that the crazy is over, though the aftermath equates to closed roads where heavy ocean overwash has the islands closed off. Reports of a number of spots where sand and ocean water cover the roads from Pea Island to Buxton. Check the Dare County EM Bulletins for the latest info on road closures. The winds are currently light in a lull between the interaction of the weather systems surrounding the OBX; however, the forecast is for a return of easterly winds this afternoon and Friday. The bigger question is though, will we be able to get to the Cove to sail it??

Mirlo Beach at the northern end of Rodanthe. Plenty of sand on a closed road. If you are going to travel today north or south across the OBX, likely you will not be able to get much further than Oregon Inlet. source: Date County Web cams

Bill,
Thanks for coordinating another great event. The clinic and free form sessions were awesome. I acquired enough experience in that week to sail in a much wider range of ocean conditions than I thought possible. The great tips from you, Andi, Keith, Stuart and Donnie helped me establish strong basics in wave sailing so now I can get in there and start working on the details and really start hitting it!

Thanks again and I look forward to seeing you at ?????? Fest!
