A Repeat of the 2005 Outer Banks Surf Season?!
This year, if the forecast rings true, the odds of a major storm landfall is high given the shear numbers predicted along with the well know paths. Of course this is reason for caution along all coastal areas of the US and central Atlantic islands; though also optimism for the surfing and wavesailing community for a stellar 2010 wave conveyor season!
Here are a few posts over the past years referencing conditions in 2005:
- Waiting for the Next Big Day (wavesailing the swell from Katrina)
- Its Been a Windless August (flashback to the surf of 2005)
Be safe and smart out there!

Bring on the tropical season. Man I remember last year we have several weekends in a row of tropical action up here. Hurricane Bill comes to mind, I scored the cover of the newj with that one. Seemed like a storm lined up every weekend, like clockwork. Can’t wait to get these RRD twin fins on a wave face.
Yea George!
If we have a season similar to 2005, likely you will put plenty of wave mileage on those RRDs!
Fingers crossed for long period swell, sunny skies, SSW winds, and no landfalls!
For you guys, I hope so Bill. We had a great week in Hatteras, but no wind since we returned home! Maybe some of that will find it's way to the Great Lakes?
