Hatteras Deep Freeze!

One word this early winter here on the OBX..."COLD!" Since December 2, we have been locked in a deep freeze of cold, blustery weather. Cold here is usually low 50 degree air temps; however, during Dec 2010, 50 degrees is "warm!" Water temps have plummeted as well both in the sounds and the ocean. The Gulf Stream has remained at bay with minimal warmth hitting the southern beaches. All in all, not too enticing to go windsurfing unless you have heated wetsuit apparel and a large heated van to change in.

Andy reported on likely the last "warm" sesh of 2010 a few days ago, and I remember that day myself as the last time I suited up. Been way too long!

In other news, Hatteras Wave Jam 2011 has been scheduled!! Mark your calendars for Sept 14-17, 2011.

As Stop Four of the American Windsurfing Tour, Wave Jam 2011 will be the US East Coast wavesailing highlight of the year with celeb national and international pro level participation!  Similar to 2010, the 2011 Event will feature world class wavesailing action as well as nightly activities throughout the event window.  Whether participating or spectating, this is definitely an event not to miss!!  Stay tuned here, and throughout the windsurfing online media outlets for more info as the Tour gets underway.
