STILL...No Wind or Waves!

Starting to go a little stir crazy here on the OBX! We remain locked in a weather pattern of no wind or waves on the islands. October is definitely hit or miss, but this year so far, the first half of the month has definitely been a miss!

When no wind or waves, then...

Like the OBX wind and waves, not too much happening.
No fish caught!

Bill, what do you make of this weekend's forecast?

Bill- come borrow my SUP for a sesh if you're bored! I've been in the water every day but 1 this October, many days with both dawn and sunset sessions! Mostly paddling, a few sailing the light winds in the waves. Those knee high, bumpy crumblers are fun and challenging on a SUP! Come grab it for an afternoon!

Hey Mac! The upcoming weekend forecast may have something in the cards, especially if you are here on Friday. IWS and WindGuru both are predicting warm S winds that day. Hopefully the setup will be sailable south winds Thursday and Friday, with NE filling in for the weekend. However, the way October has been shaping up thus far, its a crap shoot!

Andy! Yea "stand up paddle" (SUP) is the way to go these days… especially if you can find some small surf and an offshore low tide sand bar. Attach a rig, and enjoy this fall warm weather and water! That is one thing going for this month, exceptionally warm air and water temps!

what are the water temps? Sound-side water temps? I will be there Fri and Sat....probably hitting Can Hole, North Avon sound-side, or Salvo Day use area. you guys congregating for apres-sail beverages?

Water is quite warm! Hovering in the mid to upper 70s both sound and ocean. Shorty or trunks only! Warm SW wind is forecast too for the weekend, so likely any full suit can remain dry.

We usually get together on the beach following a sesh for a few cold ones if someone is packing brews!

Hey, that looks like wind to me! More that we found down there last weekend when a pal and I resorted to SUP and longboard wavesailing (see link).

It was pretty fun, actually.
