Robby Naish is ON for the American Windsurfing Tour!
Robby Naish, undeniably the biggest name in windsurfing, submitted a call out for industry support of the 2011 American Windsurfing Tour. He is also registered to participate! The Tour is a US national wavesailing event spanning both coasts of the country including Hawaii. In his words:
Dear fellow industry members,
I am writing you today regarding the American Windsurfing Tour. My hope is that I can encourage each and every member of the windsurfing industry here in the States to step up and support the tour with at least a silver package sponsorship.
Clearly the business of windsurfing in the United States is not what it once was. Sales are tough, margins are low, and marketing dollars are scarce. Still, the sport is as dynamic and incredible as ever and continues to have a passionate following. I am confident that this tour will help to re-kindle the windsurfing flame in the States, by at least giving passionate amateurs something to strive for, and professionals the opportunity to show their stuff on home turf where they can connect with consumers. Lets face it, there is very little "going on" in terms of opportunities for windsurfers to create a buzz in this country. If we all chip in, we can provide enough financial support for the events to at least happen. It will also send the right message to potential sponsors from outside our industry. Here is an opportunity to showcase the sport in a grass roots, all inclusive way.
Naish is on-board, as are a few other brands so far. I have signed up for each event personally,...I want this tour to be successful, and for windsurfers young and old to have something tangible to dream of. I hope that you will all join me in supporting Samantha and the American Windsurfing Tour!
Aloha and good sailing,
Robby Naish

stoked!
That is such very good news! I saw Robby sail once. In Hatteras on the Pamlico, amidst about 75 mortals. It was a jaw dropper!
That is SO awesome!
Nice!! It's gaining momentum! I hope I can make it down...
I sure hope this helps the tour get funded.
Let's make this go off huge!!!
I can't wait for September now!!!
That is great news...and just read the new Windsurfing Mag...looks like Ezzy, Pritchard, Poor, Miller, and many others will be there. Not only great for US windsurfing in general...but great for Hatteras. I already have the kitchen pass.
