Fall SW Winds on the OBX

Today, SW winds ramped up ahead of an approaching cold front. Sunny skies prevailed all morning and though early afternoon on the southern OBX as the front and accompanying clouds remained west of the islands. While the skies were blue, the wind speed hovered in the upper 20s with gust over 30mph! I was going to blow off the session since I figured it would be over by the time I made the drive from Nags Head to Avon. However, the IWS meter readings were too enticing, and I had to go! I sailed Ego wound on a 4.2m in waist to head high set waves. Caleb and I caught it, though a quick session, about 45 min, as the weather front eventually passed over Avon, shutting down the wind. Air and water was warm and the spring suit felt great for early November!

Keith's Report from the Point:
4.7 over powered. Shoulder high with bigger head high set every now and then. WSW turning W. Beach has changed a lot after Noel. Sand bar is farther out and wider, waist deep as well. Dan, Charlie, Jeff and I sailed it. Caleb made one run and decided to try Ego beach.
I sailed Ego at 9:30 am as well, head high sets with funky wind..got blown off my 5.3m as the wind came up.
